Welcome to the website of the Goochland-Powhatan Master Gardener Association (GPMGA). The Association, a non-profit organization, was created by Master Gardeners from the two counties to fulfill the goal of the Extension Service for Master Gardeners to be volunteers to educate the public about research-based, best horticulture practices and to be stewards of the environment. The GPMGA also provides a network for its members, executes many community projects and provides continuing education for its members.
The GPMGA in comprised of over 60 active members and holds monthly meetings that are open to the public, on the second Thursday of every month. Meetings rotate between the two counties. Check the calendar if you are interested in attending a meeting. The first part of the program is education for our members and the second half is where we conduct the business of the association, report the progress of its projects and socialize.
Through the many activities of the organization we have developed partnerships with other organizations in the counties to support our mission, and with the Reynolds Community College (RCC). RCC provides horticulture associate degrees. The GPMGA works closely with the college to support its programs and activities and as a site where we provide classes, workshops and our annual Spring Fest.
Come to a meeting and see what a great group of gardeners we are!
