Gardening 101
GPMGA Education Instructed by Master Gardener Volunteers
REGISTRATION Opens NOVEMBER 1st
for our 2026 GARDENING 101 educational program
For beginning gardeners and for experienced gardeners who would like to explore new and alternative gardening practices with fellow gardeners.

Course begins January 13, 2026.
All classes are on Tuesday evenings for ten consecutive weeks.

​TIME: 6pm-8pm.
LOCATION: classes alternate between Goochland and Powhatan Libraries.

Class size is limited to ensure appropriate opportunities for participation.


This is the Extension Master Gardener training without the volunteer component. Covers most of the topics that are part of the EMG training class with no commitment beyond the end of the class.

This course will include comprehensive presentations of up-to-date gardening issues and practices, and our instructors will provide plenty of suggested materials for additional study. However, there will be no actual requirements to do homework, no required text, no written papers, etc. The extent and depth of your study outside of class time is up to you.
* Unlike the Extension Master Gardener Training Program, this course has no
requirement for volunteerism at the end of the class.
